Design is the plan for the creation or development of something. It can also refer to the process of creation or simply to how something looks and functions. The design process requires creative and technical skills as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Common design tasks include ideation, research, testing and iteration as the designer seeks to improve on or develop something such as a product, user interface or software program. Popular design specializations include interaction design, industrial design, graphic design, product design, software design, interior design and user experience design (UXD).
